Duckworth Statement on Biden’s Executive Order Limiting US Investments in China

[CHICAGO, ILLINOIS] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth today issued the following statement after President Biden signed an executive order limiting American investments into China in certain advanced technologies industries:

“With this Executive Order, President Biden is taking decisive action to help protect our national security and prevent China from strengthening its military with American dollars. This move, along with the Senate’s bipartisan NDAA I was proud to support, will help ensure that the United States can remain a leader in emerging technologies like AI, quantum technologies and semiconductors. As I continue on my Congressional Delegation in Southeast Asia this week, I am also glad to be able to relay to our partners in the region that this Executive Order won’t just help the United States, but will also help our Indo-Pacific partners by limiting China’s efforts to destabilize the region.”

Duckworth, a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee and U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, is currently traveling on a Congressional Delegation visit to the Indo-Pacific region that she arranged in her continuing efforts to strengthen ties and reinforce support between Southeast Asia and the United States.
