Duckworth Hosts Town Hall in Carbondale

[CARBONDALE, IL] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today hosted a town hall meeting in Carbondale to answer constituents’ questions and hear their concerns directly. During today’s town hall meeting, constituents asked her about the profound negative impacts Republicans’ “Big Beautiful Bill” and will have on Southern Illinois, the impending health insurance cost increases facing middle-class Americans if Republicans continue refusing to act and how the Trump Administration has put our servicemembers at risk and left our Veterans behind. Today’s town hall was moderated by Jackson County Board member Tamiko Mueller. Photos of the Senator’s town hall are available on her website.

“Families are on the brink of a health care crisis caused by Republicans who keep voting to help their billionaire buddies instead of the American people,” Duckworth said. “Thanks to Republicans’ so-called ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ that will force rural hospitals to shut down, nursing homes to close and thousands of Illinoisans to lose coverage—and their refusal to extend ACA credits and keep health care costs down for millions of Americans—Illinoisans are understandably upset, scared and angry. The most patriotic thing you can do is show up and speak truth to power—that’s democracy at work.”

Duckworth has hosted a series of town halls and telephone town halls this year to hear directly from her constituents how the Trump Administration is negatively impacting their lives and the lives of their families and communities, hearing from Illinoisans in McHenry County, Rockford and throughout Chicagoland.
