DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - One hundred days into Trump’s second term lawmakers are split on where the country is headed.

Illinois Democrat Sen. Tammy Duckworth said in Trump’s first 100 days he made Americans weaker, sicker and less secure.

“Middle-class families, service members, veterans are all paying the price for his disastrous policies. Not only are grocery prices high, but we’re also seeing that all the veterans that he’s fired from their jobs, all the federal workers, have been fired from their jobs is contributing to this uncertainty in our economy.

“If you’re trying to sell our house right now, you see that the economy is tanking. People are uncertain. They’re not spending their money as much because they’re not sure what their future is going to going to be. Frankly, this has been one of the most. Chaotic, corrupt and harmful threats to a presidency in our nation’s history.”

Illinois Rep. Darin LaHood, Republican who covers Geneseo: “In just 100 days, President Trump and House Republicans are delivering on the promises we made to the American people. The Trump Administration is successfully securing our southern border, deporting violent illegal immigrants, and protecting our communities. His leadership has put our foreign adversaries on notice.”

U.S. Rep. Eric Sorensen, D-Moline: “President Trump promised to lower costs for working families—but after 100 days, he’s done the opposite. Prices are up, and families are feeling the squeeze. Instead of focusing on solutions, the President has been busy starting disastrous trade wars, launching massive funding cuts, and making life harder for local people,” said Congressman Eric Sorensen. “While President Trump pushes dangerous ideas that threaten jobs, health care, and the programs our neighbors rely on, I’ve stayed focused on what really matters: lowering everyday costs, creating good-paying jobs, and protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. I’ll keep working every day to make our communities stronger and safer—and to make sure working families always come first.”

State Sen. Andrew Chesney, R-Freeport: “President Trump has done more to improve the lives of everyday Americans and Illinoisans than any modern president,” said Senator Chesney. “In just three months, he’s delivered on his promises by taking bold actions that challenge the woke ideology and overreach of the Biden-Harris administration and restoring common sense to government.”
