Senator Duckworth secured $49,300,000 in federal funding through a FY23 Congressionally Directed Spending Request for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This funding will allow the Army Corps of Engineers to complete the design of the modernization of the LaGrange Lock on the Illinois River, south of Beardstown. It is the next priority project in the NESP program, which will expand and modernize seven locks at the most congested lock locations along the Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers as well as fund $1.7 billion in ecosystem restoration.
