Senator Duckworth secured $3,750,000 in federal funding for the development of a health and community service clinic in Carbondale. Shawnee recently purchased a former nursing home, which is contiguous to its current clinical campus on Lewis Lane in Carbondale. This facility has not been occupied for the past 10 years and has become a high-risk area for criminal activity and an unsafe environment in the neighborhood. This project aims to help improve public safety while expanding services for families.
