Senator Duckworth secured $3,000,000 in federal funding to support a project to replace Harvey's aging water and sewer system to protect the public health of an underserved community with a high rate of poverty and a relatively low per capita income level. The City of Harvey's water and sewer systems are highly degraded due to years of neglect and deferred maintenance resulting from a lack of access to financing necessary to implement capital improvements.
