Duckworth Statement on Reports Trump Will Rescind DACA

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - In response to reports that President Trump will announce tomorrow that he is rescinding DACA, leaving nearly 800,000 DREAMers vulnerable to deportation, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) released the following statement:

"If the President makes the heartless and irresponsible decision to rescind DACA, it would be more than another broken promise from a President who is infamous for not keeping his word. The President would be betraying American values, leaving nearly 800,000 of our neighbors vulnerable to deportation and threatening to tear families and communities apart.

"DREAMers and DACA recipients are doctors and teachers, students and Servicemembers. They have mortgages and jobs. They know only one country: The United States of America, which is where they were raised. Congress must act immediately and pass legislation to make DACA the law of the land."
