Duckworth, Moran React to FAA Increasing Boeing Oversight

[WASHINGTON, DC] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)—Chair of the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation (CST) Subcommittee on Aviation Safety, Operations and Innovation—and U.S. Senator and Subcommittee Ranking Member Jerry Moran (R-KS) issued the following statement in reaction to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) acting to increase its oversight of Boeing production and manufacturing, building on FAA’s decision to launch an investigation into Boeing yesterday after last week’s horrific incident resulted in a door plug flying off one of their 737 MAX 9 aircraft midflight:

“The FAA is correct—this terrifying midflight incident on a Boeing 737 MAX 9 should have never happened. The flying public deserves to have the confidence that the commercial aircraft they rely on are safe and reliable. We are pleased the FAA is taking action to increase its oversight and launch an investigation into Boeing’s compliance with federal safety regulations. We will review the agency’s findings and continue to work closely with FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board to keep the flying public safe.”
