Duckworth Meets with Springfield and Sangamon County Delegation

 

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) yesterday met with officials from Springfield, Illinois, and Sangamon County to discuss regional priorities, including economic development improvements and infrastructure projects.

"One of the best things we can do for our state and country is invest in our infrastructure and transportation systems," said Duckworth. "It was great to hear from local leaders in Springfield and Sangamon County yesterday about how I can help encourage economic investments in Sangamon County, opening up new economic opportunities for local businesses and working families alike."

At yesterday's meeting, officials from Springfield and Sangamon County also discussed the 183d Wing, which is an important driver of the regional economy and vital component of the nation's defense network.

As a member of the both the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, Duckworth oversees issues related to the nation's transportation systems and infrastructure projects and works to ensure Illinois receives adequate funding from the federal government to rebuild and modernize state infrastructure and transportation systems.
