Duckworth Meets with Nominee to be Secretary of Labor Julie Su

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] — U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with Julie Su, President Biden’s nominee to be the next Secretary of Labor. Duckworth has previously voiced her strong support for Su and during their meeting, they discussed Su’s priorities for the Department of Labor, if confirmed to this position. Video and photos from today can be found here and here.

“It was a pleasure to meet with Julie Su today and to hear her vision for the Department of Labor. With her proven track-record, I’m confident that, if confirmed, Acting Secretary Su is prepared to lead the Department on day one and continue the work that she has already been doing with Secretary Walsh. Just as important, Julie will continue to put workers’ rights first and push to expand fair labor practices. She would also bring a unique perspective that will only help her as she works to make sure all Americans are represented in the policies crafted and implemented by this Administration. I will continue to do everything I can to ensure her nomination is successful and look forward to working together to build a stronger, more resilient economy where everyone can thrive.”
