Duckworth Meets with Illinois Pork Producers Association Leadership

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] — U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with members and leadership of the Illinois Pork Producers Association to discuss how they can continue working together to ensure Illinois’s pork producers have the resources they need to remain a leader in the industry.

“Illinois is a national leader in pork production—ranking fourth in the United States and contributing an estimated $1.1 billion to our state’s economy,” said Duckworth. “When we support our pork producers and farmers, we’re encouraging job growth, expanding our nation’s exports and further bolstering Illinois’s leadership in the agricultural sector. I appreciated today’s opportunity to meet with Illinois Pork Producers Association leadership, and I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure our pork producers have the resources they need to succeed.”

Last year, Duckworth advocated on behalf of Illinois farmers to increase Japan's importation of Illinois pork during her trip to Japan where she met with government, trade and economic leaders as well as corporate and business officials to highlight how Illinois is uniquely positioned for greater investment and increased exports with international partners.
